The price of housing on the free market in Spain continues its unstoppable rise. According to official data published on Thursday by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), the average value of real estate in the third quarter of the year stood at 1,661 euros per square metre, a year-on-year increase of 2.6% and the highest figure in the historical series since the fourth quarter of 2011, when the square metre stood at 1,701 euros.

With these prices, and taking into account the real estate sector's forecasts for the coming months, the lull recorded during the toughest period of the pandemic, in which the upward trend seen in previous quarters was temporarily reversed, has come to an end. During the Covid crisis, in fact, the values at which 2019 closed, immediately before the outbreak of the health and economic crisis, were not exceeded.

This article is edited by SIRA, Spanish REALTOR and is reflecting Spain all over. Here at the Costa Blanca North we face an even higher increase in prices as well as a much higher demand for properties than we ever experienced before.
